What does the cross mean to you? Is it just a symbol you wear around your neck? Or something you expect to see when you enter a church? As Christians, we see the cross regularly in posts, devotionals, and homes. But is it a symbol that is so common, we don’t give much thought to it?

I wanted to explore my own thoughts on the cross by creating a series of large cross paintings. I found the exercise to be eye opening or should I say “heart” opening. Spending time reflecting on the cross and the sacrifice Jesus made for me personally was extremely humbling. What a Savior! He loves me in spite of myself and has forgiven my sins so I can have a relationship with Him, not only for now but for eternity!

We’re all familiar with John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, and whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” But I also love the next verse that is often overlooked. John 3:17 states,” For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” Knowing that Jesus paid my penalty and that I have a home in Heaven because of the gift of salvation is the best news I could ever hear! It has changed my life immensely and I can’t imagine my life without the Lord.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating these abstract crosses. They are larger paintings – around 24”x 36”, and they would make a wonderful statement in any home or even church foyer. These crosses and more of my artwork is available on my Etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/LindaMillerArt.
