This book came to me just as I needed it. Jesus Prom. Life gets fun when you love people like God does.

If you are looking to have a servant’s heart like Jesus, I highly recommend this book. Jon Weece has a fabulous way of storytelling that touches our emotions and reminds us of what we can all improve on- loving others as Jesus loves us. His writing style is unique, straightforward, and heartfelt. You will laugh and cry and be a better person for spending time with him.

Here’s a sampling- it’s part of a story Jon tells of meeting a blind beggar:

“With tears streaming down my cheeks, I knelt down in front of him and took his dirty hands, placed them on my face, and in Kreyol said, “My name is Jon, and I want to be your friend.”

That’s all I could get out. I couldn’t talk, but he could.

“Thank you,” he whispered.

As much as he needed me, I needed him. Love is never independent. Love is always dependent. Someone always gives. Someone always receives.”

You’ll have to read the entire story yourself to truly appreciate the depth of why Jon was at a loss for words. It was a humbling experience to encounter.

I actually read this book twice. The first time I quickly devoured it. There are so many entertaining stories and inspirational thoughts that I couldn’t put it down. But I wanted to spend more time reflecting on what Jon was teaching, so my husband and I read it together and had some wonderful conversations along the way.

I plan on reading it again. And again. And again. I hope to love more like Jesus does. I hope you do too.
