Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and this fun holiday isn’t just for lovers. Anyone at any age can celebrate love! And I can’t think of a better time to share the love of Jesus. Here’s three simple ways you can spread the gospel message among all the pink hearts and red roses this year:
1. Give someone a Valentine’s Day card and include an invitation to church and Sunday brunch. Everyone loves a card and who would refuse an invitation to breakfast? I can envision a beautiful conversation taking place over pancakes and coffee after a good sermon, can’t you?
2. Give someone a bible along with a box of Valentine chocolates. We all know someone who doesn’t own a bible. What an unexpected blessing to receive God’s Word (and some sweets to go with it)! You can purchase a bible to fit just about any need on Christianbooks.com. They have all kinds of study bibles, bibles in easy- to-understand translations, and even children’s bibles!

3. Dress up some gospel tracts by handing them out with Valentine’s Day candy. I put them in colorful organza bags and people love these little gifts! You can find the “Somebody Loves You” tracts and the organza bags on Amazon. This is a great idea for co-workers, your postal worker, hairdresser, or anyone that needs a little Valentine’s Day cheer.
Valentine’s Day can be a lot of fun for evangelizing. Telling someone Jesus loves them or explaining the good news of the gospel is a special privilege. By reaching out during this holiday, you can change someone’s life. If that’s not celebrating love, I don’t know what is!
Not sure how to go about explaining the gospel? Try keeping it upbeat and to the point:
- God created you and loves you.
- God gave mankind free will and man chose to sin.
- God is a just and holy God; and the penalty for sin is death.
- God loved us enough to send Jesus to die in our place.
- Jesus died on the cross, was dead in the tomb 3 days, then rose again.
- When we turn from our sins, believe and trust in Jesus, we have eternal life with Him! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
