Have you ever considered a chronological study bible? I’ve heard of them, but I never read one until recently. And Wow! I’m so glad I purchased one! This is my favorite study bible so far!
A chronological bible is rearranged differently than your regular bible. Books of the bible are grouped together in Epochs, which are historical time periods. The text is in the order of the events as they unfolded. For example, in the Old Testament, when you read about King David’s life, the psalms he wrote are inserted when he wrote them. It gives you a wonderful appreciation for where his heart was at the time.

In the New Testament, the gospels are placed side by side as you walk through Jesus’ life. For example, when you read about Jesus feeding the 5,000, you will have all four gospels next to each other so you can put the entire story together. It really gives you a new understanding as you read the gospels in this order.
Now some people say that reading a chronological bible can be confusing. I will admit it took me a little adjusting to get used to, but once you understand how the layout is presented, it’s not hard at all. The version I have, The Thomas Nelson NKJV Chronological Study Bible, has blocks of transition comments that let you know when you’re moving into a new segment.
Some of the things I really love about this Bible are the fabulous timelines and inserts about daily life, world history, and culture. There are also maps and illustrations of places and artifacts. So many things to discover!
I also appreciate the concordance, glossary, and index of scripture passages so you can locate a particular verse, chapter or book. If you are considering reading God’s word in a new light, I highly recommend a Chronological Study Bible!
Do you have a Chronological Study Bible? Let me know in the comments how you like this version of the Bible! God Bless!
